Apply online or you can...

1. Go to one of our libraries. Take your driver's license or a current bill showing street address.
2. Fill out your application, and library staff will prepare a card while you wait.
3. Once you are issued a card, you will have instant access 
   to materials at the library and our extensive online resources.

Who can get a York County Libraries Card?

• York County residents of all ages -
  Children 12 & under must have a parent or guardian sign their application at the library in person.
• Individuals who work in York County  (must show proof of employment)
• Pennsylvania residents who show a card with an ACCESS PENNSYLVANIA sticker
• Students attending York County colleges (who are non-residents)
  may apply for a one-year card with student ID
• Out-of-State residents can register
  for an out-of-state subscription card for $25 annually

YCL Borrowing Policies
Sharing YCL materials makes great cents! 
Here are the rules to follow, so everyone gets a chance to borrow the goods!

Two Week Lending period:

•Library materials, including books, audio books, music,
non-fiction DVDs and videos- may be borrowed for two weeks.

•You have the option to renew the items for two more times. 
The exception being that items with holds placed on them
by other customers can not be renewed.

•The overdue fee for these items is $0.25 per item, per day.

One Week Lending period:

•Video games, feature film DVDs and videos can be rented for seven days for $2.00 each. 

•All are renewable by customers for $2 each, charged at the time of renewal. 

•The overdue fee is $1.00 per day.

For your Convenience:

•Any circulating York County Libraries item can be checked out at any library,
renewed at any library, and returned to any library. 

•Items can be renewed online, via phone, or at a library.

•Incurred fees may be paid at any library.

•Lost library cards may be replaced by any library for a $1.00 fee.

•You may place up to 2 holds at a time on York County Libraries' materials
and designate which    location you would like to pick up your hold items.

•If you need a book that is not in the York County Libraries' catalog, you may
click here to request that it be borrowed from a library
outside of York County through our interlibrary loan service. 
Up to two requests, including holds, may be made at a time.

•Your card is considered active for a three-year period.

Teachers:

Teachers may apply for a teacher card enabling them to check out items for a six week
lending period to aid their classroom work.  These materials cannot be renewed since it is a longer loan period. A book selection service is available at Martin Library.

Overdue Items and Fees

•If you have items that are overdue, you will need to return or renew them,
and pay at least 25 % of your fees prior to checking out additional items.  
This will continue each time you visit the library until the balance is paid.   

•Fees are $0.25 a day per item (print and audio),
and $1.00 per item per day for DVDs, Videos, and Video Games.

•If you have overdue items or fines, and you need to replace or renew your card,
any library can do this after the items have been returned or renewed, and/or fees paid.
